Here’s what we’re working on for Ponder, in roughly the order we expect to release it. There are no dates: we’d rather release something when it’s ready than when a calendar says so. Plans change, and when they do, this page changes with them.

What we’re designing and building at the moment.

Puzzles

New puzzle families

We’re exploring three directions for the next families. Each has to be fun, quick to finish and rewarding to get better at before it joins, and not every candidate will make it. How we choose Ponder’s puzzles explains the tests.

Puzzles

More boards, more often

A new Daily set every day and a new Weekly collection every week, plus fresh Library boards for every family on a regular schedule, so there’s always something you haven’t played.

Next

Lined up once the current work is done.

Features

Sound

Optional sounds for moves, hints and finished puzzles. Quiet, short, and never telling you anything the board doesn’t already show. Everything still works with the sound off.

Puzzles

Puzzle packs

Themed collections of new boards, released regularly, including harder puzzles for experienced solvers. Packs add to the free Library; they don’t replace it.

Features

Themes

Colour themes you can unlock, starting with Soft Signal, a warmer and quieter palette. A theme changes how Ponder looks, never how a puzzle plays.

Later

Further out, and more likely to change shape on the way.

Apps

Ponder for iPhone and Android

Apps with no ads, puzzles you can download and play offline, haptics and sound, and progress that syncs with your account.

Apps

Ponder for Mac and Steam

A desktop version built for mouse and keyboard, with the same account and progress.

Progress

Progression and skill ratings

Experience and levels as you solve, achievements to work towards, and a skill rating built from your Race results. None of it changes a puzzle or gives anyone an edge in a race.

Social

Leagues

Weekly or seasonal leagues for friends and groups, building on the Daily results Ponder already keeps.

Social

Shareable results

A result card to share after the Daily set, showing how you did without giving away any of the boards.

Features

More languages

The puzzles use very few words, but the rules, hints and guides do. We’ll add languages once every rule and hint can be translated and checked properly.

What won’t change

  • Free stays free. Puzzles that are free on the web today stay free. Packs, themes and apps add to Ponder; they don’t take away what you can already play.
  • Comfort is never locked. Light and dark mode, reduced motion and readable contrast are for everyone, whatever you unlock.
  • Races stay fair. Levels, themes and ratings never change a puzzle or give anyone a head start.
